If you are using windows XP and cannot get Purevoice to record any sound (IE, everything goes fine, except when you play the recording in purevoice, or from your phone, there is no sound, or it is very quite).

Here is the solution, posted originally by mosszoo, then reposted by miamizkitten.

1. Go to Control Panel from the start menu

2. Go to the "Sounds and Audio Devices"

3. Go to the "Audio" tab

4. Click on the "Volume..." button in the "Sound Recording" section (should be the middle one with the microphone).

5. A volume control panel will pop up with sliders to set volumes. I use "Wave Out Mix", if this is not an option, you can add more sliders by going to "Options" at the top then selecting "Properties", there will be a list of devices to show sliders for. Be sure to check the "select" box at the bottom of the slider for the device you want to use.

Hope this helps!

If you don't have sound options, then I can only imagine that you don't have sound drivers or sound hardware installed on your computer. I can't really come up with any other answers to that, unless you're using a mac, or some older version of windows.

I guess most Mac users are using OS X, which I think there's no version of purevoice for. So their big problem is likely not being able to use purevoice at all.

Sometimes static is caused by having one level amplified too much, and another not amplified at all. Sorry I can't provide specific help, but maybe you can look into it further with that in mind.

Okay, my friend has used this before and downloaded ringers just find, but it won't work now. I've tried to change the option, but there is no "wave out mix". Any other ideas?

I don't have a Wave out mix either. In the windows settings, I adjusted "Aux", and "Line In". After that, I was able to record directly inot purevoice whatever was playing out my speakers.

If you just go to the volumes on the first tab, you won't have a "Wave Out Mix", you have to be on the "Audio" tab, and you may have to go to "Options"->"Properties" to add "Wave Out Mix" as a slider.

You may be right, particularly, if you are using Vista (as we don't have a copy of Vista, and have no idea what the sound properties for Vista look like), but if you're using anything from 98 to XP, you should be able to go to Options->Properties, and add Wave out mix slider, if it's not an option by default.

I think someone answered this date transfer fee question earlier. I think it's like 5 cents per kb.

I did see that on at least one Windows Vista computer that the sound settings recording option is called "What You Hear", as stated above. I'm not sure if this is true for all Vista versions, but checking it in the advanced section will add a slider for it in the audio volumes setting. Turn it all the way up, and you should be able to record directly in purevoice whatever is playing on your computer speakers.
